Almost Good Enough.
Breaking Free from the Pressure to Perform, be Perfect, and Prove Yourself
The pressure you put on yourself is quietly running your life. And it's not delivering what you're actually looking for.
You're capable. You produce. You show up and you get things done, often at a level that other people admire. But if you're honest, most of that is being driven by a pressure underneath that doesn't let up. The self-correction. The measuring. The quiet sense that whatever you just did could have been better.
And the hard part isn't the pressure itself. The hard part is what it costs you. The satisfaction that should come after a win but doesn't stay. The ease you keep thinking should be available by now. The freedom to just show up without monitoring how you're landing. The aliveness you catch glimpses of but can't seem to hold onto.
You're succeeding, but the success isn't giving you what you thought it would. And somewhere in you, there's a growing awareness that the way you're getting results is the very thing standing between you and actually enjoying them.
You're not imagining it. We live in a culture that rewards the pressure, the striving, the producing, the performing, without ever questioning what it costs. So most people carry this privately, assuming they're the only one who isn't keeping up. They're not.
Join the WorkshopDoes This Sound Like You
If you’ve caught yourself thinking of any of these… you’re in the right place.
“I put in a lot of effort. Why doesn’t it feel like enough?”
“I know I should just put it out there. So why do I keep finding reasons not to?”
“How do people seem to just do things without second guessing themselves?”
“Why am I so worried about everyone’s opinions?”
“I’m so tired of getting in my own way”
”Why doesn’t anybody see how hard I’m working?”
“Why am I always the one to step up?”
These are signs that something underneath your awareness is running the show, and you’re not alone.
Who This Is For
The person who is exhausted by their high standards
You hold yourself to a higher standard than most people. You reread, redo, and rethink things, not because they aren't good enough by anyone else's measure, but because they don't meet yours. You've been told to ease up, and it annoys you. The standard isn't something you're choosing, it's something deeply engrained. And you've started to notice that no matter how well something goes, your mind always finds the flaws. It's never quite good enough.
The person who is tired of playing small
You have things to say, work to share, contributions to make, and you consistently find yourself waiting for the right moment, which somehow doesn't arrive. You've passed on opportunities and told yourself it was timing. You've watched other people put themselves out there with work that isn't better than yours, and instead of that being motivating, it sits with you in a way that's hard to name. You're not afraid of hard work. But something about taking that step to put yourself out there is where things stall.
The person who keeps showing up for everyone except themselves
You're the one people count on. You anticipate what others need, you smooth things over, you make sure everyone around you is okay, often before they've even asked. And you're so good at it, but you've started to notice the costs. You say yes when you mean no. You adjust what you think to match what the room needs. You leave conversations wondering why you didn't say the thing you actually wanted to say. Despite all your hard work you are often still left feeling unappreciated.
If any of this resonates, this workshop is for you. These three patterns may look different on the surface, but underneath they're being driven by something similar. This workshop shows you what.
Join the WorkshopWhat this Day Holds
A Journey Inward: embodied, experiential, and lasting.
This is a carefully guided experiential day. You will feel the difference, not just understand it. The facilitation is real, the connection is genuine and deep.
Seeing the Patterns Clearly
Through a guided experiential exercise, you'll discover which of the three patterns runs most strongly in you, and you'll feel how it operates, not just in your thinking but in your body. Most participants are surprised by what they find in the first hour.
Going Underneaths
We go deeper into how these patterns formed and what they've been costing you. This is where participants often describe something they've "known" for years becoming real in a way they can finally feel.
Now What
You'll learn a practical process for meeting your patterns with compassion rather than judgment, and you'll practise it, not just hear about it. You'll leave with tools, felt experience, and a clear understanding of what change looks like from here.
What Participants Say
The words they use when
something finally lands
From our most recent workshops in Canada, coming to Australia for the first time in October 2026.
After fifty years on the personal development and spiritual path, I came into this workshop thinking I knew the territory. What I didn't expect was how deeply I'd come to understand the inner critic itself, how it's formed, the purpose it serves, and how it lives in the nervous system.
At times I've judged myself harshly for not quite grasping something. I can see now, that's the critic. Creating a new relationship with it and meeting that voice with patience and compassion, while understanding its positive intentions, was helpful. The practical tools for what to do when the critic arises were invaluable. This workshop was absolutely wonderful and meaningful.
This workshop filled the gap that years of self-awareness work couldn't. I now recognize when my inner critic is running the show, and how to shift into a calmer, more confident place. The learnings have genuinely stuck with me in real life.
The team made this. They showed up as real, relatable humans and held space for us to be open and honest with ourselves. That safety is what allowed the work to land. I now have a real tool for recognizing my inner critic, and choosing something calmer instead.
The inner critic exercise at the start of the day was the most confronting and compassionate thing I've ever experienced in a workshop setting. I came in defending my critic. I left understanding it and myself completely differently.
Two things landed deeply for me. The conversation around capacity made me realize I rarely give myself permission to acknowledge where I actually am in any given moment. And the idea of befriending the inner critic shifted something in me. It's been a good reminder that my critic may be more of a messenger than something to fight against, and that I can learn to communicate with it differently.
The workshop was extremely illuminating. It can be difficult to escape cycles of self-criticism without first recognizing our patterns and where they stem from. This workshop created a very warm, safe, and welcoming space for us to explore these themes, and to learn from and with our group.
Leslie, Lynn, and Jeff's backgrounds and energies complement each other so well and their fun and light hearted approach to this type of work is very refreshing.
Your Facilitators
Guides who have walked this path themselves.
What makes this work different begins with who is holding it. The frameworks of Expanding You weren’t built from theory alone, they were forged through lived experience. The facilitators of this workshop don’t stand outside this material looking in. They have navigated it themselves, and that distinction is felt throughout the day.
Growing up in a large family with a Japanese father and an English mother, I was surrounded by expectations, rules, and ideas about who I should be. Like many people, I built my sense of worth around achievement, doing things "properly," and trying to get it right.
I began personal growth in my early twenties because I longed for emotional freedom and a deeper connection to myself. But it wasn't until my divorce that I realized how much my self-esteem depended on accomplishment and external validation. During that time, my inner critic had a great deal to say, especially about being a professional who was struggling personally.
I've realized that wholeness does not come from performance or perfection. It comes from reconnecting with the part of ourselves that has always been worthy underneath the conditioning and striving. The journey toward self-acceptance and inner freedom continues to be one of the most liberating experiences of my life.
For most of my life, I looked successful on the outside. Driven, ambitious, achieving. What I didn't see was the wound underneath, a deep belief that I wasn't enough was unconsciously pushing me forward through comparison, pressure, and shame. It wasn't until I got serious about my own development that I realized my confidence was actually bravado, and my engine was running on insecurity.
The turning point wasn't a single moment. It was the slow, humbling work of catching my inner critic in action. Each time I noticed, something shifted. Through the tools and core principles we've developed at Expanding You, I learned to meet that critic with compassion instead of more judgment.
If you're someone who's been succeeding through drive and pressure, only to wonder if there's another way to live, this workshop is for you. You're not alone in this. And there absolutely is a way through.

This is deeply personal work, held in a small group setting to ensure every participant has genuine space. Because of that, enrollment is intentionally limited and when these seats are gone, they’re gone.
What you take from this day isn’t just information. It’s a shift in how you understand yourself at a level that stays. Participants consistently describe this as a powerfully valuable day, and the most surprising thing is they didn’t know just how much they needed it.

Common Questions
Everything you want to know before you commit.
We want you to arrive with complete clarity and confidence. If your question isn’t answered here, we’re happy to connect with you before you register.
Not at all, though many participants have. What matters is that you're genuinely curious about why you do what you do, and open to experiencing something beyond intellectual understanding. The work meets you exactly where you are.
Very likely yes, and we say that with deep respect for the work you've already done. Most approaches work at the level of awareness and understanding, and that work matters. But there's a layer underneath where these patterns actually formed, and most approaches don't go there. This day does. People who've done significant personal growth work often find this to be the piece that was missing.
Creating genuine safety is not an afterthought here, it is the foundation. The entire day is built around the concept of nervous system safety, and the facilitation reflects that. Things may well come up; that's often where the most valuable work happens. You will never be pushed beyond what is right for you.
Absolutely, and many of our participants are helping professionals. As helping professionals ourselves, we absolutely know the value of focusing on our growth as a path to being the best guides we can be. Understanding the nervous system dimensions of what our clients carry is invaluable, and you'll understand it in a way no textbook can offer.
Yes. This workshop is a powerful standalone experience, and it also serves as a natural foundation for those wanting to go deeper. Integration resources are provided to all participants, and we offer pathways for those ready for ongoing support through our Inner Discovery, Inner Balance programs and beyond.
Enrollment is deliberately small. The depth of this work requires genuine space for each person which means we limit group size to ensure the experience is real, not just theoretical. You will not be lost in a crowd here.
One Day… Something Lasting
You’ll leave this workshop with a clear understanding of what’s been driving the pressure not as theory, but as something you’ve felt and practised responding to differently. And you’ll leave with a practical process to meet it differently when it shows up again.
The practical takeaways are just the tip of the iceberg. This day is really about understanding your own humanness, how you’re wired, why your patterns make sense, and what’s been happening beneath your awareness. It’s a kind of understanding people are rarely offered about themselves.
And when you genuinely understand why you do what you do as something deeply human, it changes how you show up. With the people you love, the work you do, and with yourself. Not because the patterns vanish, but because you’re no longer working against something you can’t see.
